From fishermen’s café to Alvor’s trendiest tavern

Back in the early 1950s Alvor was a humble Algarve village with a handful of cafés and taverns, mostly frequented by local fishermen. aTASCAdo was one of them, but gained cult status after becoming the first establishment in the village to have a TV. Have a quick look around and you’ll see that a TV still resides in the same spot as the original, in homage to that history. Pretty cool huh…?

But that’s not what aTASCAdo is famous for today. After undergoing a full refurbishment in 2016, it reopened to quickly establish itself as one of Alvor’s most popular restaurants.

Tucked away on a cobbled backstreet, aTASCAdo’s unique ambience is a winning combination of its characterful décor, attentive service and excellent regional food made from fresh local produce.

Vaulted brick ceilings, tavern-chic furniture and rustic details create a cosy and atmospheric setting for a memorable meal. In winter, the freestanding wood stove adds a touch of romance, while in summer our lovely chill-out roof terrace offers some of the most stunning vistas in the village. The perfect place for a pre-dinner sun-downer.

Our mouth-watering menu is designed to showcase typical Algarvian cuisine using only the best locally-sourced products, finished off with homemade sweets.
